Andrea Parker: Inventive

The Lowry
Pier 8, The Quays,
Salford, M50 3AZ

The Lowry invites UK music artist and producer Andrea Parker to curate her choice of electronic music talent – an evening of some of the best performances in electronic music experimentation, mixed with beautiful visuals on stage.

Performance #1: Artist Koenraad Ecker (Belgium) is London-based sound sculptor making experimental electro music. This is a collaborative performance made specifically for The Lowry between Ecker (audio) and visuals artist Yannick Jacquet. Koenraad Ecker is a sound sculptor and composer, born in the small town of Bruges, Belgium, currently living in London. He is fascinated by the tactility of sound, the imaginary spaces created by music, the paradoxical qualities of silence and the narrative possibilities of editing. Yannick Jacquet has spent ten years developing a visual arts project exploring how to reverse the deterioration inherent in our exchanges with the world.

Performance #2: The Sprawl - a syndicate of sound disrupters individually known as Logos, Mumdance and Shapednoise. Conceived as a performance for Berlin’s infamous CTM Festival, Spawl is a collaboration between London’s Mumdance and Logos hooked up with Italy’s Berlin-based specialist for haunting techno, Shapednoise.

Andrea Parker established music labels Touchin’ Bass and aperture records, has remixed artists including Philip Glass, Lamb and The Orb, and supported Radiohead on their USA tour. Parker describes her music interest as 'breaking all things conventional, and combining all things experimental'.
